“Everyone is expecting Andy Murray but me. If he wins his two singles it is normal. Its doubles perhaps normal too. I personally believe that a Davis Cup finals brings almost always some sort of surprise and upset. The crowd can be a factor, as much as the clay choose by Belgian.

Goffin is talented and confident in his own abilities, despite the ugly loss he suffered recently with Murray. I remember a French-Russia Davis Cup finals in 2002 in Paris where everybody was expecting either Safin or Kafelnikov (or both in doubles) or Grosjean to be decisive, like many now expect Murray to be. Well the decisive match in 2002 was won by Youzhny , recovering from a 2 sets down deficit versus Mathieu. So the winner of this match in Ghent will be someone nobody expects to do so. It could well be the Belgian n.2 to conquer the 3-2 point. That’s my prediction.”
