Goodbye
Ljubo!

TENNIS - Ivan Ljubicic has bowed out of professional tennis following a 6-0, 6-3 defeat to countryman Ivan Dodig in the first round of Montecarlo Rolex Masters. Winner of 10 ATP titles, the Croatian earned more than $10 million in prize money over a 14-year career. Mark our words, the circuit will miss him far more over the longer term than it does now. Isner keeps holding serve in command fashion, and Monaco continues to beat players with his movement. By Daniel Anerson

Wozniacki and Kerber reach final

TENNIS – With the Copenhagen field down to four players, today was semifinals day at the eBoks Open. Number two seed Angelique Kerber outpowered a slow Jelena Jankovic while Croatia’s Petra Martic could not do anything to prevent the tournament’s poster child Caroline Wozniacki from reaching the final. Cécile Verin reports from Farum Arena, Copenhagen.

The tradition of Monte-Carlo

TENNIS – Even if the tennis calendar has been revolutionised several times in the past, Monte-Carlo has maintained its place and its role. The particular conditions of the Country Club have transformed it into Nadal's playground. Rino Tommasi translated by Paul Sassoon
