The best odds for US Open: day 10
"Scova La Quota" it's the Ubitennis bet corner, with match analysis and best odds, for the US Open 2010
Only five days left in the final Slam of the year, and if we already know two semifinalists of the Women's Singles (Clijsters and Venus Williams), in the Men's the quarterfinals will be played today and tomorrow, to leave us with the last four.
Yesterday there was nothing to do for Schiavone, despite an excellent match, careful and at the top of her abilities, but even if in some moments Venus was making lots of errors, in the important points she was very solid and just a little bit better than the Italian.
In the semifinal she will meet Clijsters, winner over Stosur in three sets; the Aussie is still missing the "killer instinct" to reach an important result that would make her part of tennis history.
In the Men's Singles, Stan Wawrinka is still alive and kicking (we didn't expect that!), for the first time in his career in a Major quarterfinal: not so happy about it is Sam Querrey, who improved a lot his game and mobility. The tall American showed yesterday on the Arthur Ashe a very good touch too, and if he can be consistent with his serve he will be tough to beat for anybody.
The Swiss will now face Youzhny (3 sets to 1 over Robredo), already a semifinalist here a few years ago. In the last quarter we will see another Spanish meeting between n.1 Rafael Nadal (easy straight-set winner over Feliciano Lopez and getting closer to his first final here) and a revived (but probably tired) Verdasco, winner in five sets after losing the first two to Ferrer. Rafa is having an astonishing consistency on his serve, winning 90% of the points on his first serve, and has never been broken in 4 matches.
It's useless, finally, to note again our very bad performance in this US Open: the results are worse by the day, we know, but those who has been following us for a while know how a bad period can happen to anybody, even such a long one. We can only try harder (again) and identify which matches from now on can still bring some good news.
1) N. Djokovic 1,28 (Boyle) vs G. Monfils 4,60 (Betfair)
Head to Head: 4-0
The Monfils we saw the other day against Gasquet wasn't a very good one. Too much on the defensive, never aggressive, he only waited for the opponent's error: really boring. He was lucky to have Gasquet on the other side of the net, now a hopeless player even with that sometimes excellent backhand of his, sorry Richard.
Today it's a different story for the Frenchman though against Novak Djokovic, who is going for another semifinal here. The Serbian played a wonderful tennis up to this point, finally worth of his great talent. His results this year, even if good, are surely not those of a world n.3, and therefore this US Open is his last chance of the season.
We believe in Nole (and not at all in Monfils) so today we'd risk the set betting.
Djokovic set betting 3-0 2,64 (Betfair)
The other odds of the day:
Men's Singles
R.Soderling 4.70 (Betdaq) – R.Federer 1.26 (Betfair)

C.Wozniacki 1.10 (Boyle) – D.Cibulkova 11.11 (BetCruise)
That's all for today, see you tomorrow!

September the 4th, 1959
Sixteen-year-old Arthur Ashe makes his debut at the U.S. Championships and loses to 21-year-old Rod Laver, 6-2 7-5 6-2, in the first round.
